
ABOUT
An Executive Management Consultant with over 20 years’ experience reporting to and operating at Board level and as a CEO/GM of large forestry corporations in Australia and overseas. My background is primarily in the management of commercial forestry businesses, including all aspects of plantation and natural forest management in both tropical and cool-temperate environments.
After a successful 20 year career in CEO and General Manager positions, the latest being as GM of Stora Enso's forestry business in China (The Nordic Renewable Materials Company), I have transitioned to advisory services as a Consulting Forester and Board Member to trusted organisations.
I am passionate about increasing the trustworthiness of the industry, profession and bodies I represent. As a result, a major focus of my two previous corporate roles has been cultural and leadership transformation with a strong emphasis on the foundations of Health & Safety, Sustainability and Business Ethics.
I am resilient, having implemented significant cultural change, and major improvements in the fundamental building blocks of Ethics, Compliance, Occupational, Health & Safety and Sustainability in challenging situations.
I have managed world-class plantation estates and culturally diverse work forces in both Australia and China. I have exposure to forest operations in the Nordics, Uruguay and Brazil. In my various roles, I have gained extensive experience in engaging with government and community groups including Indigenous People, Ethnic minorities and affected communities.
On a personal basis I am highly ethical, commercially astute and culturally aware.
In my spare time I am writing a book on the history of Beihai (Pakhoi), Guangxi, China during the Treaty Period (1870's to 1950's) titled, "The Backstreets of Beihai (Pakhoi)".
